Car Drives into Crowd at Youngstown Vigil; Four Injured

A vigil for fatal hit-and-run victim Robert Brown Jr. turned into mayhem Friday evening as a car crashed into the crowd, sending four people to the hospital.

Witnesses said a car turned off its lights, sped up and slammed into the crowd of approximately 30 people, then sped away. Everyone was screaming and crying as the four victims flew into the air.

Ambulance personnel took four people to the hospital and police detectives were interviewing witnesses at the scene.

Brown, 23, died Monday morning after being struck early Sunday as he was leaving a family party at Ducka’s Bar. He was walking to his truck on West Hylda Avenue near Market Street when he was hit. That car also sped away, but police have a description.
