Educational Media Foundation already has another Class A FM in the neighborhood, but WRBP, Hubbard, Ohio covers more of the Youngstown market than its existing “K-Love” affiliate, WLVX, Greenville, PA (107.1). It’s possible the California-based not-for-profit Christian broadcaster would move the contemporary Christian “K-Love” format off 107.1 and put it on 101.9. It could then place its Christian rock Air1 service on 107.1 and get it into the area for the first time. Seller in this $500,000 cash deal is New York-based Bernard Ohio (Daniel B. Zwirn). Bernard retains two Youngstown AMs: talk/urban adult contemporary WASN, Youngstown (1500) and “Oldies 1330” WGFT, Campbell. Ohio Media Watch adds that just last month, “Jamz 101.9” WRBP was recognized by the Youngstown City Council for service to the community: “for keeping the radio station highly rated, profitable and on the air in Youngstown.” Broker on the sale: John Pierce. EMF’s deal is an active topic on the Cleveland Board of Radio-Info.com.
