HONORED AT 2024 BLACK MUSIC HONORS; WITH A SURPRISE SALUTE TO MC LYTE

The 9th Annual Black Music Honors took place at the renowned Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, May 18th. Black Music Honors is an annual event that celebrates the illustrious achievements and exceptional contributions of Black music icons.

Musical icons in attendance included Ceelo Green, MC Lyte, Marsha Ambrosius, Chrisette Michele, Next, Mr. Talkbox, J. Brown, After 7, Jekalyn Carr, Mali Music, Ruben Studdard, Kim Burrell, BLK ODYSSY, Donald Lawrence, Kevin Lemons & Higher Calling, Ricky Dillard, MonoNeon, Shanice, The Chi (Carl Thomas, Dave Hollister & Syleena Johnson), Tone Stith and David & Tamela Mann.

The ceremony was co-hosted by singer and actress LeToya Luckett alongside comedic actor DeRay Davis and honored Johnny Gill, Patrice Rushen, Bootsy Collins , Hezekiah Walker and included a surprise salute to MC Lyte.

Drake Tops the List of Nominees for BET Awards 2024 With Seven Nods

GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and Victoria Monét are set to perform live from Los Angeles on culture’s biggest night. BET Awards 2024 will air live on Sunday, June 30, at 8 PM ET/PT on BET.

Today, BET announces BET Awards 2024 nominees, with Drake leading the nominations, scoring seven, and Nicki Minaj with six. BET also announced BET Awards 2024 powerhouse performance lineup, including GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and Victoria Monét. Culture’s Biggest Night, “BET Awards” 2024, will air LIVE on BET on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 8 PM ET/ PT. This year’s “BET Awards” 2024 nominees reflect an abundance of creative expression and Black excellence across music, television, film, and sports. Nominations were selected by the BET Voting Academy, which is comprised of an esteemed group of entertainment professionals and influencers in the fields of music, media, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, and creative arts.

Drake holds the top spot with seven BET Awards 2024 nominations. Drake’s nominations include ‘Album of the Year’ for For All The Dogs (Scary Hours Edition), ‘Best Male R&B/Pop Artist,’ ‘Best Male Hip Hop Artist,’ ‘Best Collaboration’ with Sexyy Red and SZA “Rich Baby Daddy,” ‘Viewer’s Choice’ with Sexyy Red and SZA “Rich Baby Daddy,” and twice for ‘Video of the Year’ for “First Person Shooter” with J. Cole and “Rich Baby Daddy” with Sexyy Red and SZA.

Nicki Minaj’s six nominations include ‘Album of the Year’ for Pink Friday 2, ‘Best Female Hip Hop Artist,’ Video of The Year for “Barbie World” with Ice Spiceand Aqua, ‘BET Her’ with Tasha Cobbs Leonard“Blessings” and twice for ‘Best Collaboration’ with Lil Uzi Vert “Everybody” and “Barbie World” with Ice Spice and Aqua.           

 J. Cole, Sexyy Red, SZA, and Victoria Monét eachhave five nominations. 21 Savage, Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Tyla, and Usher are tied with four nominations each.

 Voting for BET Awards 2024 Viewer’s Choice Award begins June 6, 2024, and ends June 30, 2024, at 6:30 PM PT/ 9:30 PM ET.
