God Is GREAT!!! I can’t say it enough!!!! A couple of weeks ago I reached out to Demetria McKinney to be our guest speaker

for the teen girls in Youngstown, Ohio for ‘Teen Talk 2014’ and Stacey Berkley (Demetria’s Manager) responded that they would love to come and support the youth.

From the time they landed in Akron and for the entire 2 days they spent with us in Youngstown they both were just great people. God will always send you the right people to get the job done!

Demetria shared her story and encouraged the young ladies to follow their dreams. One thing that really stuck out to me was when Demetria told the young ladies that there are NO prostitutes in this room and for them to respect their bodies!

I came home to hundreds of emails, inboxes, and FB tags from parents that said their teens were really touched and that Demetria really had them thinking about their future. It’s always great to see the parents are following up with their teens and not just dropping them off.

I want to send a major THANK YOU to Demetria for taking time out of her schedule to come to Youngstown. Thank You to C.I.R.V. and Mr. Guy Burney for stepping up providing so much to help make this happen. Special Thanks to the Youngstown Dept. of Parks and Recreation for providing the Arlington Heights Rec Center Plus a major thank you to the Volunteers and Sponsors that stepped up for the youth in Youngstown!

Mr. Burney presented Demetria with a Proclamation on behalf of the city of Youngstown for all her hard work and dedication to the youth and the community.

Demetria also surprised the teens with an autographed single of her new release ‘100’ featuring DaBrat. I listened to this song about 100 times this weekend and I love it. she has a beautiful voice!!!!!

  1. God Bless you and thank you for coming back home and bringing such a ‘positive’ program to the City, especially to our young ladies!! Hoping they will go back into the community and share the message! We need to reach ALL our youth but we must always let our young ladies KNOW they are ‘special’…lovely, created to continue to create but FIRST learn to love yourself, demand respect (self-respect), education and a personal relationship with God!! Don’t throw your life away… Hope to know there will be many more ‘programs’ here for our young ladies and young men!! We must ‘save’ them -they need to know there are options!!! (Consequences for actions)!! May God continue to bless you in all your endeavors!!! Thank you AGAIN!!!

  2. Kingsmen White Much luv homie. Its great to see a fellow youngstowner do their thang. Keep being u and keep doing what u do. I’ll see u when come back to town.

  3. Thank you for allowing God to use you. Thank you again for allowing us to be apart of this awesome event.

  4. This is absolutely awesome! This is life changing for the youth and the adults. I can see this growing into something that’s spread across the nation or even world wide! Blessings #KMG

  5. I loved it! It was special to see a lot of the young ladies from classes that I’ve worked in because we never have enough time to socialize and address issues; Sometimes it feels like their concerns are the only things that are saved by the bell. Miss McKinney has a very beautiful spirit. She kept it 100 but dainty. That’s what our youth need. She reminded each of us of our potential to rise above circumstances. I always talk to our young adults about their “diamonds” within and the importance of education & priorities. It is wonderful when stars mingle with us in our stone years in reference of how we are before we are completely through the fires of life. Thank you Sly, Miss McKinney and each individual and/ or sponsor and team player that helped the sun shine upon us. As an aside, if we all acknowledge the fact that we cannot spell Youngstown without YOU, then we are sure to rise as the city that God created us to be. 😉
