On Wednesday afternoon, police descended upon the Miami Beach home of Lil Wayne after receiving a phone call alleging that shots were fired at his residence.
“At 12:40 in the afternoon we received a call on a non-emergency line. The individual advised us he had shot four people [at the residence] and requested police assistance. At this point we have not located any victims.”
After Miami police surrounded the rapper’s home for more than an hour, Ernesto Rodriquez — a rep for Miami police — made a brief statement to the media at the scene. “At 12:40 in the afternoon we received a call on a non-emergency line. The individual advised us he had shot four people [at the residence] and requested police assistance. At this point we have not located any victims.”
Rodriguez specified that the SWAT team has not entered Wayne’s residence. The Miami PD acknowledged that “swatting” — making an emergency prank call to police — is a possibility.
Young Money tweeted that Lil Wayne is “okay” and was not at his home during “alleged events.”
Wayne is okay. Wasn’t home during alleged events.
