I’m writing this because I had a youngin leave me a FB inbox trying to beef. This young rapper raps

about drugs and KILLING folks and he is mad because we stand for the opposite. I politely told him that I don’t have one free second to help his career by beefing with him and he was really disrespectful. I’m trying to figure out what happened to the young men that respected their elders? I and 15 years older than this lil cat and we were taught respect. We held doors open for our elders and we said yes sir and no sir when speaking to them. What happened to the Parents that teach their kids to respect their elders? I asked the young lad how did he hear about Kingsmen and he said his mom speaks highly of us. I told him that I never heard of him so he has a lot of negative work to do to build his buzz and I’ll continue to stand for the youth that want change!

  1. Kelly Lake, in my neighborhood, the adult you disrespected would get you and bring you home where it would be FURTHER driven home.

Nowadays, you’d get jumped by a child and their parent. LOL!!!! (not funny) Seriously.

  2. What I see is parents trying to be best friends forever with their kids instead of parenting them. The time will come for you to be friends with your kids when they are adults like you. But the parents need to be the parents raising children and not let the kids run the show. Too much of that going on. Kids need the security of discipline and love and training. Back when I was a kid in the 60’s/70’s….you would never dream of being rude or disrepectful to ANY adult….or you knew what you were in for later at home!

  3. WE CAN RAISE THE CHILDREN IN TODAYS WORLD, BUT WITHOUT A STRONG MAN IN THEIR LIFE, THIS IS WHAT WE GET AND ITS A SHAME , THERE ARE SO MANY STRONG BLACK MEN BEGGING TO BE IN THEIR CHILDS LIFE AND SOME OF THESE MOTHERS THINK SHE CAN DO IT BY HERSELF,( NO LADIES )THIS IS 2014 AND IF YOU HAVE A SON OR A DAUGHTER THEY NEED A POSITIVE MALE IN THEIR LIFE TO HELP YOU SHOW THEM HOW TO BE A MAN OR A YOUNG LADY… NOW A DAYS THE BOYS ARE SHOWING THEIR UNDERWARE AND THE GIRLS ARE HALF DRESSED AND WE WONDER WHY !!!! THINK ABOUT IT , PEOPLE WAKE UP THEY NEED BOTH PARENTS TO HELP OUT IN ALMOST EVERY WAY, MOST OF ALL THEY NEED TO BE TAUGHT WHAT REAL LOVE IS,,,,, IJS

  4. my lil girl is 17 and she is far from perfect but is very well spoken not only because i teach her to be respectful but because she is intelligent and mindful of how I taught her to speak regardless of if the adult u speakin to is speakin to u appropriately or not. Being a single parent sometimes we want to be our kids friend so they will feel free to be open and honest with us. so as parents we try to find that happy medium so our kids do respect us as their parent but feel comfortable to say mom i messed up ad need help. sometimes we do not know how to do both so one falls short. this happens also because kids are raising kids. i cant teach what i do not have or know myself.

  5. Respect starts at home. I was blessed to be taken under the wing of an “original” Black pioneer to Youngstown. He didn’t take me under his wing because I was a delinquent and troubled youth. I earned that spot because of the respect I had for him and ALL other elders within the community. My mother, a single mom, demanded that respect be expressed toward the elders. I still do it now. I hold doors for women and elderly gentlemen alike. Times aren’t the same. Boundaries are broken. Once a child doesn’t deem it necessary to respect their own parents, it’s pointless to expect that respect to be shown toward elders. Parents have elicited the “we’re equal peers” in raising their children. Have you noticed how so many children that lack “proper” upbringing are being killed or killing themselves within society? It’s a cry for what was NEVER implemented. GUIDANCE. DISCIPLINE. I think about how I was smelling myself as a youth and called my mother by her government. I said, “Yeah aiight (government name). At 41 I still don’t remember whether I was smacked or punched. She was yelling at me to express.what I wouldn’t do again in life (true), but all that was clear was the ringing in my ears…….I could just see her lips moving.
