Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson was indicted Friday on charges that he struck his young son with a switch in Texas, according to a person in the NFL familiar with the situation.

A grand jury in Montgomery County returned the indictment Friday afternoon, according to the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Peterson allegedly struck his young son, who spent the summer with the All-Pro running back in Texas, with a switch, according to the NFL source. The Vikings knew of the incident for several weeks, but thought Peterson had been cleared of all criminal charges, the source said.

The abuse allegations surfaced shortly after the child returned to his mother’s Minnesota home, according to the source, who said a doctor noticed “a mark” caused by a switch during a routine appointment.

  1. Kingsmen White I have no words. You have a right to what you believe in and I will respect that. But I can’t believe you just said that. God for bid that child experience anything in life (like get a splinter) that will cause him to “break his skin”. Whatever man…

  2. Growing up around the kids I grew up with afforded me more than ample opportunities to fall into the wrong crowd. It was a 24 hour a day job for my single mother to keep us out of those crowds.
I can honestly say, the number one thing that kept me from doing half of the things I could have done was fear of the belt or switch.
I’ve had those marks before but not just from getting a spanking. I’ve gotten them from falling on my bike. I’ve gotten them from playing tackle football. I’ve gotten them from falling in the Stickerbush by Mrs. Hunt’s house. It’s not the injury, but the cause of the injury. The cause of those marks from my spankings came from a mother who loved me enough to let me know she would rather see me with a welt than in jail. She would rather see me with a welt than dead.

My mother had the loving talks with me before. They didn’t work. My mother made me stand in the corner before. It didn’t work. My mother gave me tons of chores to do before. They didn’t work. The only thing that scared me straight was a spanking.
Every child is different, which means it is important to know your child. I’m pretty sure Adrian Peterson knows his son!

All of these politically correct hyper-sensitive pansies in this country are getting on my last nerve!!
