The Supreme Court has found a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, striking down bans in 14 states and handing a historic victory to the gay rights movement that would have been unthinkable just 10 years ago.
Anthony Kennedy, a conservative justice who has broken with his ideological colleagues to author several decisions expanding rights for LGBT people, again sided with the court’s four liberals to strike down the state bans. The 5-4 majority ruled that preventing same-sex people from marrying violated their constitutional right to due process under the 14th Amendment and that the states were unable to put forth a compelling reason to withhold that right from people.
“It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage,” Kennedy wrote of same-sex couples. “Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves.”
“They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law,” he continued. “The Constitution grants them that right.”
The United States is now just the 21st country in the world to allow same-sex marriage in every jurisdiction.

Congress can easily fix the issue by passing legislation to protect faith based beliefs…..or States can stop issuing marriage licenses altogether and allow folks to enter into partnerships according to their lifestyle…and enforce/uphold anti discrimination laws
I am mortified… Now more and more believers are taking on this “to each it’s own” attitude. Only God can judge… no one wants to witness the truth or be on the opposing team. I don’t support same sex relationships, but I believe in love and human respect. Don’t expect or invite into your world… I won’t be there.
I know that its wrong.
I don’t think that a pastor should be made to do something that he does not believe in doing.
U know what? Today I realized that we’re living in a modern day Babylon..my heart was made heavy upon this understanding, but through it all I can find joy because I know that one day every criminal, every liar, every hypocrite, every false idol, every prideful soul will be torn down and set free from the bondage of confusion!
Horrible and completely disrespectful to god
This is to much! i just had a convo with my son. He say why is people against it? i say because God made woman n man to have children n reproduce. If you r with someone who is like u, u cnt have children. So now the human population is gonna start dying out.
You do know there are plenty of married folks who choose not to have children and folks who aren’t married who have children…..so the population will be fine
Separation of church and state means that any church or pastor can refuse to marry a couple. People of the same sex still have courts and other venues at their availability to be married.
