Facebook Launches ‘BARS,’ a TikTok-Like App for Aspiring Rappers

Facebook’s R&D division, the NPE Team, has introduced another experimental app that’s centered around music. It’s called BARS, and it’s meant to give aspiring rappers a way to record their rhymes with the app’s studio quality vocal effects and professionally created beats, as well as to share their videos on social media. Users can select from the several beats available, and if they write in-app, BARS will auto—suggest words that rhyme with what they’re typing

The app has audio and visual filters and an autotune feature that users can take advantage of to create a polished product. There’s also Challenge mode, wherein users will have to rap freestyle while incorporating the auto-suggested word cues. As TechCrunchnotes, BARS seems to be another attempt at a TikTok competitor, albeit a specialized one, seeing as each video can only be up to 60 seconds in length. The app even has a similar UI, with a two-tabbed vertical video interface

JAY-Z sells 50 percent stake of Ace of Spades to LVMH

JAY-Z has entered a partnership with LVMH. On Monday (Feb. 22), Moët Hennessy, the luxury conglomerate’s wine and spirits division, announced its purchase of a 50 percent stake in JAY-Z’s champagne brand Armand de Brignac, commonly known as Ace of Spades.

“It just started out in a place of respect and built from there pretty quickly,” he said on the show

According to Yahoo! Finance, JAY also called Moët a “natural partner” and said the dealwould take Armand de Brignac to “the next level of taste and distribution.”

Kim Kardashian Files for Divorce from Kanye West

According to TMZ, Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from Kanye West after 7 years of marriage. Kim is reportedly asking for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s 4 kids. 

There is also reportedly a prenup in place that neither Kim or Kanye is contesting, and the two are allegedly working on reaching a property settlement agreement. Additional details are scarce at this time, but sources close to the situation say that Kim and Kanye are committed to co-parenting their children.

The Best Man’ limited series starring original cast in the works

The star-studded cast from The Best Man and The Best Man Holiday is set to return, including Sanaa Lathan, Morris Chestnut, Melissa De Sousa, Harold Perrineau, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Nia Long and Taye Diggs. Monica Calhoun is the only cast member that will be missing from the series because her character passed away from cancer in the film’s sequel.

According to Deadline, Peacock ordered a 10-episode limited series called “The Best Man: Final Chapters.” Malcolm D. Lee, the movies’ director and writer, is teaming up with former “Insecure” executive producer Dayna Lynne North to bring the series to life.
