The End of the CD! What’s Next?

20140726-170158-61318664.jpg

When was the last time you walked into your favorite store and purchased a cd? How many CDs do you still own? I’m asking because lately I’ve been talking to music execs about what’s next? Cd sales are at an all time low and soon all CDs will be extinct besides your personal collection. Most people are downloading/stealing songs right to their personal devices. Will this mean iTunes and similar sites will have total control over sales in the future? how will the smaller mom and pop stores compete to sell online music?

Nicki Vs. IGGY

20140726-143909-52749431.jpg

Seems like Nikki Minaj is worried about losing her place as the TOP female Hiphop Artist. Lately she has been throwing a lot of shade towards IGGY from saying she don’t have to work hard for what she is getting credit for to saying T.I. is ghostwriting her songs to help her out. I just think that she don’t like sharing the spotlight and she is mad that ‘Fancy’ made the #1 spot on the charts. What do you think???? Leave a comment!

ALGIERS (Reuters) – Authorities have lost contact with an Air Algerie flight en route from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso to Algiers with 110 passengers on board, Algeria’s APS state news agency and a Spanish airline company said on Thursday.

APS said authorities lost contact with flight AH 5017 an hour after it took off from Burkina Faso, although other officials gave other timings, adding to confusion about the fate of the flight and where it might be.

Spanish private airline company Swiftair confirmed it had no contact with its MD-83 aircraft operated by Air Algerie, which it said was carrying 110 passengers and six crew.

I just came from checking out THE PURGE:ANARCHY and this was an excellent movie. it’s hard for a Part 2 to top the first but The Purge did a great job of creating a great thriller. Let me know if you seen it and what did you like about it!

“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” topped the box office with a $73 million opening weekend.

According to studio estimates Sunday, Fox’s “Planet of the Apes” sequel rode excellent reviews and high anticipation to one of the summer’s best debuts. It easily surpassed the $54.8 million opening to 2011’s “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” the reboot of the 1970s chimp franchise.

Update: LeBron James

image

I was looking at the LeBron James issue from a spiritual perspective and I was telling folks that a Man leaves an area that he is loved and treated like a King to go into unfamiliar territory. The same folks that once loved him for his talent turns on him and hates him. Durring his departure he learns skills and business that’s needed to go from being good to being a champion. Now he has enough training and knowledge to go back home and raise a whole city to another level! It takes some thick skin to go through a transition like this and some folks are scared to leave their comfort zone because they can’t handle the attacks that come with it.

Roddy White’s Keep The Faith 2014 Football Camp

I Had a great time In South Carolina for Roddy White’s 2014 Football Camp at James Island High School. The first thing I noticed was the weather was much better this year. Last year I was super hot!!! The kids all worked hard and gave it their best.

Roddy White made sure that he spent time with each child and encourage them to be the best. I looked at the kids faces and could tell that they really look up to Roddy and they look forward to his camp every year. This year Roddy had help from NFL friends Michael Vick and Byron Maxwell.

LeBron reportedly will opt out of deal with Heat

20140624-095741-35861816.jpg

MIAMI — A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that LeBron James has decided to opt out of the final two years of his contract with the Miami Heat and become a free agent on July 1.
Opting out does not mean James has decided to leave the Heat, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because neither the four-time NBA MVP nor the team had made any public announcement.
James had two years and about $42.7 million remaining on his deal with the Heat. In his four seasons in Miami, the Heat have gone to the NBA Finals four times, winning two championships.

Michael Jordan a Billionaire

20140618-095646-35806421.jpg

Michael Jordan is now a billionaire.

In February, my colleague and the Dean of athlete earnings, Kurt Badenhausen, pegged Jordan’s annual earnings at $90 million and his net worth at $750 million. But I have learned from sources familiar with the Charlotte Hornets that the former NBA great has increased his stake in his basketball team to 89.5% from 80% during the past several months.

Jordan first became an investor in the Hornets (then the Bobcats) in 2006 and became the controlling owner in 2010 when he bought out Robert Johnson for $175 million. In January we valued the Hornets at $410 million. But the Milwaukee Bucks sold for $550 million in May, and they are considered the least valuable team in the league because of their market and arena. Sports bankers say the Hornets care presently worth between $600 million and $625 million.

Our net worth figure for Jordan uses the $600 million figure. The Hornets have $135 million of debt, which makes Jordan’s equity in the team worth $416 million. After subtracting all the cash Jordan has invested in the team, we estimate his net worth outside of the Hornets to be $600 million, giving him a net worth of a $1 billion (Kurt and I discuss Jordan in video below).
