Cleveland officer found not guilty in fatal shooting of two people

A Cleveland police officer was acquitted today for his role in the 2012 fatal shooting of two unarmed people in a car after officers mistook the sound of the car backfiring as gunshots.
After a four-week trial, a judge found officer Michael Brelo, 31, not guilty of two counts of felony voluntary manslaughter in the deaths of Timothy Russell, 43, and Malissa Williams, 30. Russell and Williams were killed Nov. 29, 2012, after they led 62 police vehicles on a chase across Cleveland.
Prosecutions of officers for the use of deadly force are rare given there have been thousands of fatal police shootings in the past decade. When criminal charges have been pursued, officers have most often been acquitted or cleared, according to a recent analysis by The Washington Post in conjunction with criminologist Philip M. Stinson and researchers at Bowling Green University.

Jay Z and Beyoncé Joint Album Coming to Tidal

Music streaming service Tidal’s senior executive Vania Schlogel recently talked about the company’s launch and the idea of a joint Jay Z and Beyoncé Knowles-Carteralbum being exclusively launched under its watch.

“I don’t think we will disappoint our fans and our subscribers. I think it’s going to be really exciting, because the artists do feel like they have the ability to collaborate and work with each other. They all work as a team. The other exciting piece of it is Tidal Rising which we launched a week or two ago. Tidal Rising is us putting a spotlight on indie and emerging artists. There’s going to be continued collaborations around that too. It’s not just going to be the 16 artists on stage. It’s basically going to be a creative hub. Tidal Discovery, which will be launching within the next week, that’s going to allow any artist, signed or not, to upload their music to Tidal.” (Digital Trends)

Jas Prince Loses $4Million Lawsuit Against Cash Money

A federal court judge presiding over Jas Prince’s lawsuit against Cash Money has dismissed the case, as shown in documents obtained by the Jasmine Brand.

Last year, Jas Prince filed a lawsuit claiming that back in 2007 his company, Young Empire Music Group, originally discovered Drake and would eventually sign him to Aspire Music Group.

When Cash Money approached them with the desire to sign Drake, Jas Prince agreed, but with the stipulation that 22% of all Drake’s advances, net profits and other advances would be paid to Prince and to his company.

Last Friday (May 8), the judge returned his decision, ruling that the signed deal excluded Jas and his music company, but it did include Aspire. Therefore, the federal court judge agreed to dismiss the lawsuit against Cash Money.

Tom Brady suspended four games for Deflategate

The New England Patriots were notified today of the following discipline that has been imposed for violations of the NFL Policy on Integrity of the Game and Enforcement of Competitive Rules relating to the use of under-inflated footballs in the AFC Championship Game of this past season:

For the violation of the playing rules and the failure to cooperate in the subsequent investigation, the New England Patriots are fined $1 million and will forfeit the club’s first-round selection in the 2016 NFL Draft and the club’s fourth-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft. If the Patriots have more than one selection in either of these rounds, the earlier selection shall be forfeited. The club may not trade or otherwise encumber these selections.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft advised Commissioner Roger Goodell last week that Patriots employees John Jastremski and James McNally have been indefinitely suspended without pay by the club, effective on May 6th. Neither of these individuals may be reinstated without the prior approval of NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent. If they are reinstated by the Patriots, Jastremski is prohibited from having any role in the preparation, supervision, or handling of footballs to be used in NFL games during the 2015 season. McNally is barred from serving as a locker room attendant for the game officials, or having any involvement with the preparation, supervision, or handling of footballs or any other equipment on game day.

George Zimmerman involved in Florida shooting

Police in Lake Mary, Florida, a suburb of Orlando, said they were investigating the shooting, according to police spokeswoman Bianca Gillett.

WFTV said Zimmerman was shot in the face and WESH-TV in Orlando said the wound was minor.

Police said it appeared to be a “road-rage incident,” according to the FOX 35 television station in Orlando.

A bullet hole could be seen in the passenger window of Zimmerman’s vehicle, WESH reported.

Witnesses told the television station that a man appearing to be Zimmerman was able to walk normally into an ambulance.

Zimmerman, 31, a former Florida neighborhood watch volunteer, was acquitted of murder in the death of Trayvon Martin in 2012, an incident that prompted civil rights rallies and drew international attention to Florida’s controversial “stand your ground” law.

Tom Brady is a Cheater! What’s a Good Punishment for This????

tom brady presser(Maddie Meyer/Getty Images)
The NFL has finished its investigation into the New England Patriots and concluded that the team likely intentionally broke league rules and deflated footballs used in the AFC title game.

The league’s evidence against Brady centers on three main points: 1) his reaction to the condition of game balls used in a Week 7 game against the New York Jets in October, 2) how he interacted with McNally and Jastremski following subsequent games, and 3) how he communicated with the two after Deflategate exploded.

4th & Swift

Yesterday my bro Andre White celebrated his 5th Wedding Anniversary at 4th & Swift in downtown Atlanta. We were guest of Mr. Jerry Gresham and he made sure that it was a night to remember. When I pulled up to the restaurant my first thought was “this spot is DOPE” because it’s very hard to find parking in Atlanta so to have parking on the side of the establishment was a PLUS!

We were greeted by a very friendly staff that made sure we were taken care of. They even welcomed my 2 year old son and you already know that he is a handful. Check out photos of this great place with great food and  make sure to stop by 4th and Swift!!

Mayweather Fight Sold Out with tickets going From $4500 up to $90,000

Boxing’s biggest fight in years has reached Super Bowl-level prices in the resale market—and with the bout completely sold out, that’s the only market that exists anymore.
The average asking resale price for the May 2 bout between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao stood just short of $11,000 on Thursday, according to the secondary market ticket site TiqIQ. The mean price is $500 higher than this year’s Super Bowl and trumps any boxing match in the last five years.

The most expensive seat—a fifth-row ringside view—was priced at $77,500. The “get-in” price, or cheapest ticket to attend the event, hit nearly $4,500 on Thursday.

Dr. Dre Wins Against Death Row

According to Billboard, U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder ruled that Dr. Dre is entitled to be paid more royalities from the digital sales of his 1992 debut album than what he has been getting. The album can still be sold digitally, but Dre will now receive 100 percent of the monies from digital sales.

“For years, Death Row Records forgot about Dre when they continued to distribute his music digitally and combined his hits with weaker Death Row tracks in an attempt to elevate the stature of their other artists,” Dre’s lawyer Howard King wrote in a statement. “We are gratified that the federal court has unambiguously declared that Death Row has no right to engage in such tactics, and must hold all proceeds from these illicit distributions in trust for our client.”

“I will not be used to send Suge Knight to prison,” he said.

Asked by Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Barnes if he could identify Knight as she pointed to him in the courtroom, Sloan said, “That doesn’t look like Mr. Knight.”

Troopers also say they found numerous handguns.

Kenya Moore Covers Kontrol Magazine

httpv://youtu.be/053bzggDHQw

What she’s been up to.

If you’ve had hair envy, Kenya is releasing her own hair care line on the interwebs, Moore Hair Care  just in time for Mother’s Day and will be in stores in August. With Kenya’s hair being very healthy, defines what healthy hair looks and feels like. “Healthy hair is hair that isn’t dry, damaged, split or frayed. A lot of women are not happy with their hair and they think the only option they have is to wear weave, wigs extensions or clip –ins. Healthy hair has movement and shine.”

Kenya’s thoughts on her portrayal this season.

“I feel this is one of the best seasons because it shows who I really am. I have people around that genuinely know and love me.”

Her feelings on Phaedra and Apollo.

“I definitely feel redeemed from the feud with Apollo and Phaedra.” This was quite evident with the airing of Sunday’s show with Kenya and Phaedra making amends and hopefully slowing working to build a better friendship. Only time will tell.

Many fans think of Kenya and Cynthia as an unlikely pair of friends.

“How so? We’re both models/beauty queens that love fashion, worked in New York, and know most of the same people.” Now that things have changed between Cynthia and Nene, it’s been a lot easier to develop a deeper friendship for Kenya. “You no longer have someone constantly telling you who to be friends with and to choose.”

Will NeNe ever write a check to Detroit Public Schools?

No, I don’t think so,” says Kenya, “People can see the type of person she is. “She used it to show the world how disgusting and evil she is. Why would you shortchange some kids because you want to be in a pissing contest with someone?”

Republicans are trying to ban Food Stamp recipients from buying Steak and Seafood

That story fit a longtime conservative suspicion that poor people use food stamps to purchase luxury items. Now, a Republican state lawmaker in Missouri is pushing for legislation that would stop people like Greenslate and severely limit what food stamp recipients can buy. The bill being proposed would ban the purchase with food stamps of “cookies, chips, energy drinks, soft drinks, seafood or steak.”

“The intention of the bill is to get the food stamp program back to it’s original intent, which is nutrition assistance,” said Rick Brattin, the representative who is sponsoring the proposed legislation.

Jay Z says “I Don’t Have a Record Deal”

A major question about Tidal has been the exclusive content that they will feature, especially with all of the major artists attached and so heavily involved. On whether or not people will be able to download or purchase said content, Jay revealed he wasn’t sure at this moment. His major reasoning was that downloads are decreasing based on their research and that they think people would rather just stream a song or album rather than download it or purchase.

Maybe the most interesting part of the discussion came with the topic of how labels would interact with Tidal and if they plan to cut any ties at all. Jay said that if an artist has a deal with a label then they of course can’t exclude the company, but he also noted that if an artist’s contract expires, they can work out a deal on their own with Tidal. As an example of this, Jay pointed to himself. “I’m on Tidal. I don’t have a record deal. So… yes.”
