Thursday, June 16 is the premiere date of Martin: The Reunion!
The cast reunites to celebrate the impact of the iconic sitcom.
The reunion special, hosted by comedian and actor Affion Crockett, will include Martin Lawrence (“Martin”), Tisha Campbell (“Gina”), Tichina Arnold (“Pamela”) and Carl Anthony Payne II (“Cole”), along with surprise guest appearances. Taking a look at the show’s origin and evolution, the reunion will feature interviews with the cast, original directors, special musical performances, and behind the scenes commentary on the importance and impact of the show that shaped a generation.
“Martin is one of the most beloved sitcoms in our community, both because it is hugely entertaining and because it played a pivotal role in changing the narrative of Black voices in entertainment and in culture through the portrayal of young, ambitious Black leads and healthy Black relationships,” said Scott Mills,CEO of BET. “Decades later, that representation is still just as important, which is why we’re so excited to honor a series that put Black culture front and center on our platform that embraces Black culture everyday.”

For the first time in its 16-year run, the top earners of the annual Rides to Remember charity event will ride shotgun during the final laps around the Atlanta Motorsports Park track with a renowned Ferrari racecar driver, currently dubbed “The Pony.”
The Pony is a play on a mysterious driver from a popular British television show. The competition to ride with The Pony will pit Rides to Remember drivers and major fundraisers against each other to help raise $200,000 for CURE Childhood Cancer (CURE), Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities (ARMHC) and Camp Sunshine.

Caring For Others, a 501(c)(3) on a mission to eradicate poverty, announced Pro Football and College Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and Christian music icon Amy Grant as its headlining speakers for the third annual International Poverty Forum taking place on March 4, 2022 at Porsche of North America Headquarters in Atlanta.
Sanders, an eight-time Pro Bowler, and two-time Super Bowl champion, is the only player to have played in both a Super Bowl and World Series. Currently, he is the Jackson State University football team head coach. Tebow is a two-time NCAA national champion, Heisman trophy winner and first-round NFL draft pick. Grant is the first artist in Christian music to have a platinum record and has gone on to win six Grammy Awards. Both Tebow and Grant are well known for their philanthropic work supporting various charitable causes throughout the world.

Today, the NAACP and BET announced that Academy Award-nominated actor and producer Samuel L. Jackson will receive the prestigious Chairman’s Award during the “53rd NAACP Image Awards.” The Chairman’s Award is bestowed in recognition of individuals who demonstrate exemplary public service and use their distinct platforms to create agents of change. Past honorees of the Chairman’s Award include the late U.S. Congressman John Lewis and Ruby Dee, Danny Glover, Rev. James Lawson, Tyler Perry, then-Senator Barack Obama, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and former Surgeon General Regina Benjamin. It was also announced that Scot X. “Bel-Air,” a dramatic reboot of the Will Smith ’90s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” has released its first trailer. The series will debut its first three episodes on Peacock on Feb. 13, with subsequent new episodes being released weekly on the streamer.
